Request Deletion of Your Data

This page explains how to request deletion of the data associated with your use of American Waypoints, what will be deleted, and what may be kept.

How to request deletion (steps)

Send an email to connectap.dev@gmail.com.
Use the subject line: "American Waypoints – Data Deletion Request".
In the message, include the display name you used in the app (and your hometown, if you set one) so we can locate your profile.
We will confirm and complete the deletion within 30 days of verifying your request.

On-device content: your private journal entries and photo-mission photos are stored only on your phone and are never sent to us. To remove those, delete them in the app or uninstall the app — that permanently removes them from your device.

What is deleted vs. kept

Your profile (display name, hometown, and ZIP code if provided)	Deleted
Your visit records, points, and leaderboard entry	Deleted
Guest-book entries you submitted	Deleted / removed from public view
Private journal and photo-mission photos	Stored only on your device — remove by deleting in-app or uninstalling
Anonymous, aggregated analytics that cannot identify you	Kept for program and grant reporting (retained indefinitely in anonymized form)

Time-capsule messages are sealed and unreadable by anyone until July 4, 2076; if you have questions about a capsule submission, include that in your request.
