American Waypoints is a GPS-guided heritage trail for South Carolina's Revolutionary War sites. Below are answers to the most common questions. If you need anything else, email us — we're happy to help.
Open the trail map and travel to one of the historic waypoints. When you are physically within about 50 metres of the site, the app confirms your arrival and stamps your Patriot Passport. Check-in requires being on location — it cannot be done remotely.
Location is used only while you are using the app, to confirm you are standing at a historic site. We never track your location in the background and never sell it. See our Privacy Policy for details.
No. You can use the app without signing in. You may optionally add a display name and hometown to appear on the leaderboard.
Yes. Trail content is cached on your device, so stories, challenges, and check-ins work at low-signal sites once the trail has loaded.
Your private journal and photo-mission photos stay on your device and are never uploaded to us. Delete them in the app or uninstall the app to remove them.
